BBC "Global News" now claims a weekly audience of 238 million people around the world to its services, which include the World Service, 30-odd language services, BBC World News on tv, and online offerings - the cumulative figure is up 5m on last year.
The BBC says some of the improvement is down to the new BBC Arabic 24 hour tv news channel, but is coy about an absolute figure; it does admit to an overall decline in radio listening - down five million to 177 million in 2008/9.
