Following on

It might be instructive to review Alistair Darling's Budget statement alongside the American Recovery and Investment Act (January 2009) to see how many stimulus ideas have been borrowed from the Obama administration.

The US action seems altogether more organised and progressive, with a special bill of 400+ pages, not a tactical annual budget adjustment sticking to a traditional political calendar. And for all Brown's new-found YouTube savvy, and the online aspirations of Direct.Gov, it would be hard to beat Obama's Recovery.Gov site for detail, well-presented.
