Too many Thompsons

Broadcast Now reports that Andrew Thompson, formerly of BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport, has left Channel 4 to set up a sports consultancy, with a least one client - helping C4 renegotiate its racing contracts, which come up in September. That timing suggests he does not figure in the shortlist for the current BBC Director of Sport vacancy, despite pre-Christmas speculation by the Guardian's Media Monkey.
