The National Museum of American History in Washington reopens later today, after a redesign and refurbishment by Gary Haney of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It's taken two years and $85m. As well as the first Star Spangled Banner and handwritten copies of the Declaration of Independence, there's room for the red shoes from the Wizard of Oz, a Dumbo Disney ride car - and Kermit. More preview photos from the New York Times here.
Gary Haney's other projects include the 412m high Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait City, due to be topped out in 2009.
