Things might cheer up a bit at S4C with the appointment of Sioned William as interim chief executive.
Sioned William was born in Camarthen and brought up in Barry. She went to Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen, before reading drama at Aberystwyth University and subsequently studying at Jesus College, Oxford, where she paired up with Rebecca Front and Armando Iannucci.
She started out in broadcasting as a BBC radio light entertainment producer, following a compulsory stint on Weekending with Partridge-vehicle Knowing Me, Knowing You. As Controller of Comedy at ITV, she helped birth Harry Hill's Sketch Show and Cold Feet. In 2015 she was commissioning for Radio 4, including The Skewer and Conversations from a Long Marriage.
She's finally delivered her fourth Welsh language book, Y Gwyliau, so now has some time for this S4C lark.
