In for outsiders

The eagle-eyes of former BBC staff have spotted an advert for two new non-executive directors at the BBC in The Sunday Times Business Section - one to chair the Audit Committee, and one to advise on editorial matters.

This presumably means an end to the tenure of Dr Samir Shah, OBE, appointed in 2007. A manager of BBC political and current affairs programmes under John Birt, he still runs a production company Juniper Communications which has had contracts with the Beeb. His sister, Monisha Shah, is a Director of Emerging Territories at BBC Worldwide, whilst brother Mohit Bakaya, is a Commissioning Editor at BBC Radio 4.

David Robbie, who came via KPMG, Invensys and Rexam, has been chair of the Audit Committee, also since non-execs were introduced in 2007.

Both new directors will also have to take an interest in the tricky subject of remuneration, which could lead to fun conversations with Thompson, Byford, et al. Go on, have a go. It doesn't appear to be advertised on the main BBC jobs site, but all you have to do is send a cv with covering note to annabel.dixon@bbc.co.uk. She's just weeks into her new job as Head of Resourcing...
