Anyone else rather frightened that the Guardian keeps mentioning Roger Parry as a possible non-executive chairman of the BBC ?
The cv looks good - from journeyman reporter on Today and Thames news to "media entrepreneur" (largely in advertising and media sales). One of his longest recent jobs was from om 2000 to 2009, as non-executive chairman at Johnston Press. Share price now down to around 15, from 360 in 2000. He's stepped back from day-to-day control of Media Square, which lost £21m last year and has seen it's workforce halved - there was shareholder pressure for him to go. He's been with Future Publishing in various roles since 2001 - share price then around 120, now around 16. He's chairman of Mobile Streams - stock price around 90 in 2006, now available for 3.75.
And he has a familiar look.
