There's seems to be a welcome change of strategy from marketing man Tim Davie, the BBC's Director of Audio & Music. Instead of leaking names he's consulted in the quest for a new Controller of Radio 4, there's now a modicum of circumspection and control being exercised in the process.
I think the shortlist is now down to three (earlier prognostications of four were off the mark); that Lawson and Peston are not on it, but that Peter Barron is still in play. There has to be at least one woman in there. Now the three prepare to face Thommo.
