Congratulations to the Telegraph for the headline "Fridge magnate appointed Channel 4 chairman". Geoff Cooper, 71, is currently chair at white goods and electrical retailer AO, based in Bolton.
But the list of British middle-weight enterprises touched by Mr Cooper, over the years since joining Travis Perkins as a trainee accountant, is lengthy. - Somerfield, Fine Fare, Mac Markets, Boots, Dunelm, Card Factory, Butlins, Haven, Brakes. His biggest deal - probably the Boots Alliance merger.
Not much meedja in all that. Perhaps his interest is fanned by daughter Daisy, currently a commissioning co-ordinator at the BBC, and involved in theatre and film production since 2008.
