I note that BBC Chief Product Officer Storm Fagan, elevated to the Executive Board in March, and paid £350k p.a., now requires an "Executive Lead"; "Salary up to £115K depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights."

I remember when John Birt instigated Producer Choice, someone describing it as "playing shops for John Birt ". Now we need a similar term for what Tim is doing in the UK and BBC Studios is doing in the US (hiring all those empty new suits).

ReplyDelete'Executive' is the latest trendy job title word. Broadly, it signals that the holder either does fuck all, or that they do everything so that their boss can do fuck all.
