The idle scrolling of a Bank Holiday has led to a discovery that the ever-transparent BBC has moved their senior management expenses to a new location, so I'm two quarters behind in 2024/25.
Taking the most recent first, it's perhaps not surprising that BBC News Global Director Jonathan Munro is right up there, but nonetheless some of the elements are eye-watering. One return flight to New York cost £2462, but another came in at £8102; and a return trip to Washington was £4925. One hotel bill in New York was £1970.
Mr Editorial Standards, David Jordan managed trips to Cyprus, for the European Broadcasting Union, and Canada for the Public Broadcasters International conference, staying an extra night in Ottawa, "in order to meet further Canadian contacts". Phil Harrold, now transforming News, seems to have been to Cyprus and Ottawa at roughly the same time.
Jack Bootle, in charge of commissioning 'specialist factual' went to Johannesburg, Washington and LA. Board member Marinella Soldi booked four flights from Milan to London.
