Scene: Just inside the BBC entrance to Glastonbury

Tim, a DG: "Hi, everyone, sorry I'm a bit late. Where first ? Want to be in time for Raye on the Pyramid. Did we get through Kneecap OK ?"

Lorna, an executive: "Yes, Tim, all as planned, nothing live. It was packed out, and there's a section where they all chanted 'Fuck Keir Starmer'...."

Tim: "Oh lord. Anything worse ?"

Alison, another executive: "Well, the London team say Have I Got News could get away with. They've said we can put it all up on the player, quietly..."

Tim: "Fair enough. Let's go, then..."

Jon, another executive: "We've got a problem with the act before Kneecap...

Tim: "Yes....?"

Jon; "They got them chanting 'Death to the IDF"

Tim: "Ouch....Live ?"

Alison: "We were streaming with a bad language banner. The Israeli stuff came at the end"

Tim: "Cripes. Sounds like we need to put them on hold from the player. Take another look and let me know. Now, I must get round some of our people....."

Scene: VIP area, Glastonbury, later that evening

Tim (on the Samsung): "Hello, Secretary, Tim here. How can we help ?"

Lisa, a Culture Secretary: "Did you turn your phone off ?  Have you seen all this Bob Vylan crap ?"

Tim: "I'm at Glastonbury, I've been moving around. Bob what ?"

Lisa: "Glastonbury ? You're right in the middle of proper shit storm, and you don't know it ?"

Tim: "The band before Kneecap ? I've put them on hold...."

Lisa: "Never mind hold, they went out live, and it was still there for five hours.  Call yourself editor in chief ? Get on it, and get back to me....

Scene: Executive area, Broadcasting House via Zoom

Tim: "So this our draft apology...."

Samir, a chairman: "Glastonbury got theirs out yesterday. Nandy's been on, and promises a right going over in the Commons later. And she's going to bring up the Gaza Doctors thing - where's that report, Tim ?" 

Tim: "Johno's still squaring off the victim list on the commissioning side. It'll be at least a week"

Samir: "Should we have let John Shield go ?"
