Toby Philipps has emerged as Director, Group Corporate Development at the BBC "focused on value creation across the BBC Group via external partnerships and ventures in the areas of media, technology and IP."
Toby, 51, (St Edwards' Oxford, MA English Lit with Russian, Edinburgh) started off in investment banking, joining BT after ten years. In 16 years at BT, he worked on the acquisition of EE, the restructuring and various divestments of its Global Services division and the formation of the joint venture between BT Sport and Discovery, resulting in TNT. He's been self-employed since 2022, but has responsibilities as chairman of the family hand-dryer firm, AIRDRI, and a nice terraced house in the heart of Camden.
