There's always a question mark about naming people ahead of charges, but the Met seems to have done very well to keep the arrest of Huw Edwards back on November 8th 2023 quiet for so long. It happened a day after the King's Speech, which would normally have featured Huw's commentary. We have no public sight of the BBC Board minutes from their meeting on November 13th; in December they discussed the review of processes by which the complaint from parents of a young man was 'surfaced' within the organisation, and approved changes. If the arrest had been known, would the BBC's parting with Huw, through his resignation, on 22nd April this year have been the same ?
