The pesky former Beeboid Kevin Bakhurst has nicked BBC Director of Scotland Steve Carson as the man to turn RTE's tv fortunes around. Steve was on less than £178k at Pacific Quay; RTE's salary cap, introduced by Bakhurst, is 250,000 euros.
It's a return to Dublin for Steve; he was Director of Programmes for RTÉ Television from 2009 to 2013. Steve's wife, Miriam O'Callaghan, presents news magazine Primetime on RTE1; the family home is in Rathmines.
Mr Carson will be called Director of Video; the new Director of Audio is to be Patricia Monahan, currently managing editor at Newstalk. Patricia has been with the station since 2002, when she started as a researcher. She has a BA in English and History from Trinity, Dublin, and a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City.
