We noted a BBC email exchange from 2020, released as part of l'affaire Bashir, referencing concerns about previous disclosures in minutes of BBC Board meetings. In the exchange, Company Secretary Phil Harrold wrote "And to think how much effort I go to in order to ensure that current Board minutes are as dull as possible..."
An FOI enquirer, with their best po-face, asked if dullification of minutes was an official policy. The BBC's po-faced response ?
"Phil Harrold’s comment was a light-hearted remark to a group of colleagues; it was not a statement
of BBC policy. BBC Board meetings are minuted by the Board Secretary, approved by the Board at the next available meeting, and published on the website after the Board has approved them. "
