The New Statesman has got Marina Wheeler, formerly Mrs Boris Johnson, to review Downward Spiral: Collapsing Public Standards and How to Restore Them by John Bowers.
It's a pretty dispassionate review: she writes: "Bad behaviour and corruption in politics is nothing new." She defends the appointment of Kate Bingham to lead the (Covid) Vaccine Taskforce, and approvingly quotes Kate "Yes, I happened to be married to a Conservative MP and minister. Since when is that a crime… And what did that have to do with my own political views? Are wives still viewed as chattels?”
Marina concludes "In the end, Johnson lost the confidence of his MPs and the system spat him out."
