For those of you not glued to Rishi Sunak's free but fumbled hit on GB News, TalkTV responded to the Piers Morgan hole by spreading out Archibald Michael Graham for an extra hour.
"Iron Mike" was born to Scottish parents in Hampstead and went to Cardinal Vaughan school in Holland Park. His family teams were Queen's Park and Celtic; he later developed an interest in Manchester Utd, and, through his newspaper graphic artist father, a love of golf. He joined Royal Mid-Surrey in Richmond as a junior, then the European Press Golfing Society: " We played matches against the Germans and the French in exotic locations. I was introduced to Sangria in Andalusia where I won best junior for a round of 85."
His first job was in an Hungarian patisserie. He started in journalism at Bath University, where he edited Bath Time, whilst failing to complete his exams. He freelanced in the United States from 1984 (it's possible he followed his parents to the East Coast). In 1992 he came back to Britain to night-edit the Express, but after five years was fired in the middle of a shift. Piers Morgan made him editor of the Scottish Daily Mirror, and Mike started radio punditry for BBC Scotland on the side. Then, in 2006, all-new Talk 107 gave him a Sunday show. It became daily when the Scottish Daily Mirror folded. The station reached audiences of just 50,000, against a 140,000 forecast - Mike was fired in 2008.
However, he ended up on TalkSPORT|overnight - owned at that time by UTV, also owners of Talk 107.He has 179k followers on Twitter (including Carrie Johnson) compared with Piers Morgan's 8.7m.
On TalkTV an environmentalist once told him "You can't grow concrete". Mike said "Yes you can".
