The Sunday Times has been trying to explain the cancellation of The Nine on BBC Scotland, and provided a new sidebar on a continuing problem for news boss Gary Smith - Scots prefer STV.
Viewing figures for Reporting Scotland at 6.30 pm on BBC1 Scotland were just 297,000 on Tuesday last week. STV's News at Six on the same day achieved an audience of 403,000, building further on a lead first established in 2019.
