If this is the year the BBC steps up on UK political coverage, then overnight live coverage of the by-elections was poor stuff. Nicky Schiller hosted a string and cardboard tv/digital thing (whilst BBC News abroad continued with Asian Business report and the likes), and Rima Ahmed from BBC Leeds stood in for Dotun Adebayo on Radio 5Live. Competent, but not, I'm afraid, impressive. Maybe Turness and Munro were busy 'winning the weekends'.
