Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
I refer to an article published today on the excellent "Trading as WDR" web site: https://tradingaswdr.blogspot.com/2024/0...
It includes an email dated 13th October 2020 from BBC Company Secretary Phil Harrold to Head of Legal Peter De Val and copied to Elizabeth Grace from BBC Legal, Director of News & Current Affairs Fran Unsworth, Director of BBC Nations and Regions Ken MacQuarrie and Sarah Jones also from BBC Legal. I am prepared to accept that my descriptions of their respective positions within the BBC may be incorrect for 2020, but no matter.
The text of the email simply reads: "And to think how much effort I go to in order to ensure that current Board minutes are as dull as possible...".
I am not alone in thinking that the often delayed Board minutes are dull and deliberately obfuscate matters that are of interest to your tax-paying customers, but I would like to ask if making them "dull as possible" is an official BBC policy or whether Mr Harrold has just taken to do this on his own volition.
Yours faithfully,
Mr A Willmore
