Odd week for the BBC leadership. DG Tim Davie was in New York for the rather recherché Paley International Council Summit. The Paley Center for Media is co-chaired by Hearst CEO Frank Bennack and Henry Kissinger; its low key mission is "bringing together global dignitaries, chief executives, industry thought leaders, and the most innovative trendsetters from the world’s most important companies, to advance the exchange of ideas and to foster a sense of community amongst peers."
The only record of Tim's remarks I can find come from a Paley tweet: "The one thing you cannot screw up is not looking out for your loyal, local customers." This has gone down badly with UK opponents of cuts to BBC local radio.
Meanwhile, in the absence of their editorial chief, David Jordan and Rhodri Talfan Davies were sent to pacify/stonewall guests of the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism.
