Some flesh on the breaking up of the BBC News Home Affairs team. Director of News Content Richard Burgess has told staff "We will be closing the Home Editor role in London, but we are talking to Mark Easton about future opportunities and how we continue to make the most of his experience and expertise."
Also closing: four Home Affairs Correspondent positions, and two correspondents covering Community Affairs. There's scaling back in Scotland and Brussels, and jobs covering 'On The Day', 'Health and Wellbeing', 'Culture', 'Money and Work'.
Richard further explains the new-lamps-for-old magic in News Content "In total, we plan to close 39 posts and open 30 in News Content in the UK creating a net saving of £1.3m"
In Politics, there'll be no 'Politics UK' reporting parliament on Fridays. The Westminster Hour on Radio 4 will no longer have a regular presenter, but will be filled from the Millbank Cab Rank of political correspondents.
