So, the US will get a brand new version of the BBC News website before the UK. That's the gist of BBC Studio's boss Tom Fussell's unchallenged briefing to the Financial Times.
It's coming sometime next year (though primary debates have already started) 'to be ahead of the US Presidential Election'. The relaunched website would prove more attractive to media buyers as it would allow more “localised and personalised” content in the US, he told the Financial Times. “This will be a great offering for advertisers. It’s a premium brand,” he added.
He said the BBC was also recruiting more journalists ahead of the election as there was “a huge amount of market share we can gain” because the organisation was regarded as an impartial source in the US.
