The opportunistic investment made by Bauer in acquiring the services of Ken Bruce, 72, has paid off. He's doubled the audience in his Greatest Hits Radio morning slot, to 3m a week. The 'halo' effect at the station has seen rises for Simon Mayo at drivetime, up 62% year on year, and Simon 'Rossie' Ross at breakfast, up 54% year on year.
The Guardian has used figures from a radio consultancy to untangle stats for Ken's replacement at Radio 2, Vernon Kay. He's down, from Ken's 8.3m, to 6.9m. Still, that's above Zoe Ball's most recent quarter at Radio 2 Breakfast, with a weekly reach of 6.7m.
