Holding position

Rhodri Talfan Davies is ploughing ahead with replanting BBC England, with the confidence of a man never previously riddled with self-doubt. In his second go at changing the face of 'investigations' (always much more sexy than plain old 'reporting the news'), he's turned to Gail Champion as 'Editor', based very locally in Salford and Birmingham. Runner and gardener, she has a strong background in radio, perhaps not much on the cv in terms of tv budgets, and only a black and white photo for the press release.  

So whatever objecting MPs achieve in terms of 'review', the money being taken from local radio is already being spent.
