Ofcom's Podcast Survey 2023 is a bundle of spreadsheets without commentary, so I've relied on radio blogger Adam Bowie for his analysis.
Broadly, there's little growth. 25.5% of people listen to podcasts weekly, compared with 25% in 2022; and 36.4% listen monthly. Half of us never listen to podcasts.
Users skew male and ABC1, despite BBC Sounds' major investments in the talents of Gemma Collins and Scarlett Moffatt.
The survey's figures suggest, among regular (at least once a week) podcast listeners, there's a bigger interest from ethnic minorities, but the sample is a little small to make it a strong conclusion.
