The BBC is seeking permission for a big increase the number of archive programmes (i.e. more than 12 months old) available through the iPlayer. They've modelled impact on commercial rivals by looking at both a 300% increase and a 600% increase in coming years. In fact, they say that they should be allowed to publish what they can afford, in terms of rights payements. Ofcom has launched a consultation on the proposal, but indicates it's minded to approve at the 300% level.
