BBC Studios have hired 'tv addict' Kate Ward as their new Managing Director of Factual.
Kate's a Gooner, went to City of London School for Girls, and was a contemporary of Amol Rajan at Cambridge, where she acquired her MA in History. Her career has taken her from sales at TVF, an independent documentary producer, through Shine/Endemol, to Refinery29 and most recently Vice Media. She acknowledges she might not expect to acquire Vice series such as BongAppetit and Weediquette. Her partner Joe Naftalin is Senior Vice President Global Production for StudioCanal. Her dad is Sir Alan Ward, former Judge, who, in his first legal career in South Africa was occasionally instructed by Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo.
