Trench warfare

Radio 5 Live sports presenter Mark Chapman adopted a slightly passive/agressive tone on the second Sports Report of the new Premier League season, at the moment when we used to hear the classified football results.

"I will bring you all of the day's football results from across the UK just like last weekend. If you want them right now then they're available on the BBC Sport website and app, and that is fully accessible with audio description available".

It feels like Chappers is on board with the project, in which time is given for more chat with Michael,  Denno, Maz and others. Room for other sport ?  A report on the Women's 100s matches, and one Super League result. The handover to the live football at 5.30pm "Proving that not everything that's over 74 years old has to be removed from Sports Report, here's John Murray...."

I've seen suggestions elsewhere that producers felt they were losing audience to other stations when the results sequence started; if so, the BBC should be transparent about it. Others have said the move saves money on bringing in 'a voice' for results reading; again, come clean, BBC.
