Katy Searle has been appointed as an interim replacement for Jamie Angus as Senior Controller, Programmes & Commissioning, BBC News, just over three weeks since he announced his surprise departure.
Katy, c50, (Hinchley Wood School and Esher Sixth Form College) is currently Executive Editor, Politics. She says she set her hat at a broadcasting career aged 12, as a fan of Capital Radio. She met DJs Kid Jensen and Mick Brown on Esher station, and at 15 was doing work experience on Capital's news show, The Way It Is. She joined the BBC at 19, as a Radio Production Assistant at Current Affairs, World Service, English.
