Raptors

All round media master Andrew Neil proposes a hybrid of subscription and public funding for the BBC.

A braver man than me would say he hasn't quite thought it through. He would consign 'shows like Strictly' to the whims of monthly purchasers. But where would, say, natural history land ?

Thanks to the raptors at Apple+, change is already underway. They're about to show the five part Prehistoric Planet, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and made by the BBC Natural History Unit, now part of BBC Studios. I'm sure Jay Hunt paid lots, but will she have covered anything like the licence-payers' 65 years of investment ? And, out of mild interest what's Apple+'s longest running commitment to tv production ?
