A week's time will see the opening of a new pub along Wood Lane, W12, just to the left of the entrance to the revamped Television Centre. It's to be called The Broadcaster, eventually designed to span four floors, with dining rooms, kitchens and a roof terrace. Launch dishes will include "roasted wild stone bass served with herbed mash; dry-aged rare-breed sirloin served with turnip and horseradish terrine; and a wild mushroom and vegan feta pie served with swede and green sauce." Launch cocktails include 'Pumpkin Fashioned' made with Buffalo Trace.

Is someone on high taking the Michael, or what? You work in an iconic building for years on end, no shops or pubs nearby. And then you leave, the BBC sells half of it off, a bloody great shopping mall opens & then a 4-storey boozer called The Broadcaster?? Puh-leez!
