If the stress of office life becomes too much for returning toilers at Broadcasting House, why not nip up to Britain's first cat cafe, Java Whiskers, at 105 Great Portland Street ?
For a basic £14.99 for 55 minutes, you get to spend time with the cafe's 10 or so rescue cats, brought in from a cat shelter in Waltham Abbey. Cakes, food and drink come on top. The cats are all available for adoption, to suitable homes, at £80. The cats usually stay for about two months.
There are strict rules: you mustn't pick the cats up or feed them; there are 'no shoes' in the cat lounge, and you can only play with the cats with the toys provided. The cat cafe idea started in Sweden, and the cats are all fed Husse brand Scandinavian cat food.
