Whither, you may ponder, #defundtheBBC ? Glasgow University history student Jame Yucel claims to have started the campaign. He's moved on to "Refund Us Now", a campaign to get universities to pay back 15% of fees charged during the pandemic now, and in cash. He's spent some time on the student newspaper, the Glasgow Guardian, and emerged with a new Twitter account. All seems much calmer in his life.
Liam Deacon was billed as #defundtheBBC's press officer. He built on eight months working for Ralph Lauren at Bicester, to emerge with a degree in philosophy from Sheffield in 2015. He was a staff writer for Breitbart for 3 years, managed 10 months with the Daily Star's online team, and spent close to two years with the press team of the Brexit Party. Since April 2020 he's been in comms for the First Property Group; CEO is Ben Habib, formerly Brexit MEP.
Darren Grimes, a #defundtheBBC 'champion', emerged from full-time education with a degree in fashion and business from Brighton/Newcastle. He was with Brexit Central for two year, then digital manager at the IEA. Since May 2020 he's billed himself as director of Reasoned, which appears to be a selection of Darren's videos on YouTube. He's set up a Gofundme campaign to fight the left's "culture war" on the UK.
I mention the Gofundme campaign because there's one still going for #defundtheBBC, currently standing at £73,095. And yet, if you go to the #defundthebbc website, and look for contacts, there are none.
