The Flashing Blade

Some medium-sized knives have been deployed on executives at BBC News, as predicted here 12 days ago, with a Board-level restructure which, we are told, is 'ongoing',

Jonathan Munro, Head of Helicopters and Newsgathering, becomes Senior Controller, News Content and Deputy to Director of News Fran Unsworth.

Jamie Angus, currently Director World Service Group becomes Senior Controller, News Output and Commissioning, across UK bulletins and programmes as well as BBC World and World Service English. Some of his current duties go to a new role, thus far unfilled, of Senior Controller, News International Services, covering World Service Language output, BBC Monitoring and BBC Media Action. Mary Hockaday, currently Controller of World Service English, gets this new gig as an interim.

Gone from the News Board are Editorial Director Kamal Ahmed, Gavin Allen, Head of News Output, and Joanna Carr, Head of Current Affairs, Katie Lloyd, Development Director and Kate McAndrew, Chief of Staff.  The remaining Board members are: Fran Unsworth (Director), Naja Nielsen (Digital Director), Alan Dickson (Chief Financial and Operating Officer), Kirsty Lee (interim HR Director) and Sarah Ward-Lilley (Managing Editor).  Gender balance: 4 women, 3 men, one vacancy.  Diversity disappears with Kamal.
