BBC tv network schedules are running out of steam. Only Connect has been the top show on BBC2 for the past three weeks of seven day figures, coming in at just over 3m. Death in Paradise provides BBC1's only 'tentpole' for the most recent week. 5 editions of the Six O'Clock News and one of The One O'Clock News are in the top 15 BBC1 chart. Eastenders can't bust through 5m, with Coronation Street closer to 7m, and Emmerdale at 5.5m.
Yet, in numbers of minutes we sit in front of each channel, BBC1 is still up on a year ago, as are all the main networks. Clearly we're spreading our interests more generally.
