Fair selection

You really want all your diversity ducks in a row when recruiting for the top job at the BBC, cf this response to an FoI request...

Please tell me how many people were interviewed for the position of director of creative diversity
currently occupied by June Sarpong OBE, what their names were, what their gender was, what their
ethnicity was and also the gender and ethnicity of the interviewer/interviewers.’

We can confirm that there were 5 people shortlisted for interview. The application data was
anonymised.

We are withholding the remaining information requested under section 40(2) (personal
information) of the FOI Act. Under section 40(2), personal information about identifiable
living individuals is exempt if disclosure to a third party would breach one or more principles
in the General Data Protection Regulation. The individual(s) concerned would not expect
their personal data to be disclosed to a third party. Therefore, disclosure would breach the
principle to only process personal data lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner.
