So Boris Johnson met Charles Moore on 27th July 2020; Mr Moore had lunch with Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden on 20th August, and lunch with Culture Minister John Whittingdale on 21st September. No other possible candidate for the chairmanship of the BBC had such access - or was it courtship ?
Incoming DG Tim Davie got monstered. Oliver Dowden on 1st July and 25th August; Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain on 14th September; John Whittingdale on 6th July, 9th September and 28th September.
Mr Whittingdale has spent some time with Beeboids - Clare Sumner (Policy) Helen Thomas (England) and Ken MacQuarrie (Nations & Regions) on regional current affairs cuts; non-exec Dr Ashley Steel; and Jamie Angus (World Service).
Oliver Dowden got to the heart of the matter on Covid 19 and the Arts with Shirley Ballas on 2nd July and "discussed the media sector" with Paul Dacre on 22nd September
