Adding up

Newsnight is once again on the hunt for an Economics Editor. 

Will Hutton was first to hold the title, from 1982 to 1988. Then the post seems to have gone into abeyance   (Please see Better Adding Up for fuller information)

Stephanie Flanders popped up in 2002. She was followed by Paul Mason 2008 to 2013. Ian Katz brought in Duncan Weldon in 2014, but he was gone in 2015.  Helen Thomas joined on the business beat in 2016, but, during her maternity leave, Ben Chu was made Economics Editor. He went back to the Independent in February 2020.  Helen's last day in the office was January 29. 

Ads for the job on external sites say the programme has an average nightly audience of 600,000.  Mmmm.
