What brought James Purnell and the UAL together ? It might have been a little piece of Stratford. The BBC is moving its Symphony Orchestra out of Maida Vale for a new base in the development called East Bank, part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park site. (We've mentioned before that the money might not add up, as Maida Vale has now been listed).
Another occupant of this new culture quarter will be the London College of Fashion, one component of the University of the Arts. One of its current locations is space above the old British Homes Stores site just off Oxford Street. It's lead by Professor Roni Brown, who joined this time last year.
Meanwhile some former BBC employees have been reflecting on Mr Purnell's time at the helm of Radio & Education....
