From Monday, Andrew Neil will be hosting drivetime on Times Radio for two weeks. In these days of Zoom and Skype, he may not actually be in Times' studios - but will he be doing more than just a little light radio presenting ?
Mr Neil has acknowledged that News UK approached him about their ambitions for a new UK tv offer "They tried to get me to join, but in the end I decided not to. I left Rupert Murdoch's organisation 25 years ago and it didn't seem to me to be a sensible career move to go back - although the offer they made was very generous and very professional". So Mr Neil, now signed as Chairman and Lead Presenter of GB News, finds time to dep at News UK ?
GB News claim they've got 25% of their required backing. At News UK, Rebekah Brooks has made no secret of her ambition to diversify with a tv presence. Trouble is, Andrew generally has little time for Rebekah. But two market entrants in the New Year would be at least one too many. Could there be further discussions of a compromise deal after the drivetime microphones shut down ?
