We're still in the first week of the Insolvency Service v Trustees and Directors of the collapsed charity Kids Company. The charity's chairman Alan Yentob faces four years disqualification as a director, and is being represented by George Bompas QC.
Mr Bompas (Merchant Taylors Northwood and Oriel College Oxford) said stories about spending at the charity, included in court documents presented by the Official Receiver, were 'salacious', designed to create a media feeding frenzy. Mr Bompas is described in Chambers Guide as ‘deceptively lethal – in cross-examination he can totally annihilate a witness whilst never being anything less than courteous’.
We'll see next week.
