Collective wisdom

BBC redundancies have become BBC news in Northern Ireland, with four familiar names leaving the Belfast newsroom. Political Editor (for 18 years)  Mark Devenport signalled his departure earlier this year - at 59, he intends to enrol on a drama course.  One presumes he's departing as "a bump" (an HR term for setting his redundancy against another comparable post closure - his particular role will have to be continued by someone else).

Also going - former presenter/arts and education correspondent Maggie Taggart, Newsline reporter Mervyn Jess and investigative reporter Kevin Magee.
