News from Global News

BBC Global News has decided to go for an interim CEO, as Jim Egan prepares to leave in September.

Egan is off to be Chief Investment Officer for the Media Development Investment Fund, which tries to provide financial support for independent media operations. He was already on the Fund's Board. His move came a fortnight after the elevation of Tim Davie to Director-General in waiting.

The interim boss is to be David Weiland, recently anointed Executive Vice President, Engagement for BBC Studios, where he was charged with leading culture change. Before that, he'd spent five years running Studios' operations in Asia. Successes included selling the Life On Mars format to the Chinese.
