The missing 8,000

How big is the BBC ?  I mean, headcount ?

I've always believed it to be around 20,000 - a figure that seems to have stayed pretty much the same over a decade, despite annual 'cuts'.

The latest minutes from the BBC Board suggest many more people think of Auntie as their principal employer. Director General Lord Hall told the March meeting that he'd started a weekly call with staff in response to the coronavirus, and the first of these, held on 18th March, had seen "28,000 staff and freelancers calling in".
