Paddy

Paddy O'Keeffe, one of the longest-serving producers of From Our Own Correspondent on BBC Radio 4, has died aged 83.

How many listeners thought she was a bloke ? She first got a credit as producer in 1970 (having previously worked on Woman's Hour with Marjorie Anderson). She left the job in 1983.  Countless correspondents had their scripts gently yet clearly improved, for clarity and grammar over those 13 years.

Patricia Mary Josephine O’Keeffe was born in Bodmin, daughter of an Irish couple Ignatius Aloysius O’Keeffe and his wife Gertrude, who had come to the town to run the local mental hospital. Paddy returned to her cottage in St Breward when she took early retirement.
