A bunch of mouldy bananas to the BBC internal communications teams charged with breaking the news of job cuts in BBC English Regions and News; a regular, online "Two minute survey" has been emailed to everyone, asking how they are feeling. Nearly a thousand know they're at risk of redundancy, and more are nervous their jobs are on the line.
Clearly face-to-face conversation hasn't been possible, but around England, many found out about plans for local radio from Radio Today before hearing from managers. And in News, a video of senior managers, each on two cameras, going through their cuts, had higher production values than felt appropriate to those facing an unwonted exit.
One division is not getting as much scrutiny on its cuts: BBC Studios (current prop. Tim Davie). Already, in documentaries, a quarter of staff have been told they're at risk of redundancy. I'm sure the Studios shiny website will carry all the details soon.
