It's not on his Twitter feed yet, but Alan Davey, Controller of Radio 3, is the new Chair of Governors at music and dance college Trinity Laban - an unpaid role, with candidates sought by headhunters Perett Laver. He's thrilled.
"I have long admired the innovation and creativity I have seen from Trinity Laban, its students and alumni: it is a place that creates opportunity for students from all backgrounds and across the globe and works with them to shape the future of music and dance. Arts and higher education have never been more important and I am looking forward to working with Trinity Laban to build on our success as a truly diverse, inclusive and excellent institution where great work can be done."
Top music blogger Norman Lebrecht idly wonders whether this is an exit sign. Mr Davey joined the BBC in January 2015, from the Arts Council. He'd previously been the civil servant in charge of Culture at the DCMS, when James Purnell was Secretary of State. He'll be 60 in November.
