It's not clear if he was running applications in parallel, but BBC DG candidate-manque Doug Gurr has ended up as new Director of the Natural History Museum. He's leaving his role with Amazon UK, after the appointment was approved by The Prime Minister.
Perhaps he'll get a Radio 4 series anyway...
